Welcome! Your post sent me off on a research jag, trying to find out more about your auto-immune condition and the nihlist idea. I'd be curious how that translates to your specific daily ways of operating. Finally, which videogames do you play? Videogames are a regular activity in our household. I'm terrible at them (that whole hand-eye coordination thing...), but have played a couple related to zombies (Left4Dead).
ReplyDeleteI suppose the most immediate way having IC affects my life is that I am always in pain. I'm using the word "always" in its literal sense. The disease is complicated, and while I have a professional-level understanding of it due to years of research, it is difficult to adequately explain it here. Suffice it to say that it makes my life much more difficult than it would ordinarily be.
ReplyDeleteThe nihilism is really just my conclusion to the Big Questions of life. I have written extensively about it, in my treatise: "Enmity and Affliction in the Field of Dreams". It also influences my fiction writing, and my novels-in-progress (I often have several that frequently intermingle and sometimes absorb each other- for better or worse) generally have a pretty cynical tone.
I'm beginning to dip back into my tendency to be far too forthcoming with personal information. I tend to be articulate, and there can be done connotation there that I am trying to show off or impress others. I'm not. This is how I've always spoken, even as a young child. I was precocious to a fault.
The video games...gaming has been a part of my life since I was able to hold a controller. It serves a lot of purposes: diversion, an outlet for emotion, a means to kill time, and so forth. If it's available in this country and has ever been fairly popular, there's a good chance I've played it.
When I was younger, that meant something. The cool kids were off sneaking cigarettes and kissing girls under the bleachers. My crew had video games and Dungeons and Dragons. These days nerd things are mainstream. We've lost the makeshift ethnicity we once held. There's another topic I could go on for pages about.
Are you enrolled in any of the fiction classes offered by LCSC? You may want to check into it.Although it sounds like you've got a strong writing ethic of your own, it can be nice to hang out with those who also write treatises and novels and such :)
ReplyDeleteA body building nialist, a very unique combination, and awsome. It is good to take pride in yourself and care about something that you are passionate about. Whe i see someone using the word nialist, the first thing that streams into my mind is the pool sceen from The Big Lebowski. I love that movie and quote it often.
